The International Traditional Karate Federation (ITKF) will officially launch its passport during the 2024 World Championship in Portugal. This document will allow the registration of kyu and dan grades, referee qualifications, examiner and international instructor certifications, as well as participation in official ITKF events.
The passport will also feature spaces for official signatures and stamps, further establishing itself as a standout feature of the current administration, reinforcing transparency and organization.
Official Examination Guide
After two years of study and refinement by the Technical Committee, the new examination syllabus will be introduced as the official guide for conducting tests across more than 70 member countries.
The syllabus covers kihon, kata, kumite, and self-defense in a pedagogical format with increasing complexity, aiming to raise the technical level of traditional karate worldwide. Additionally, the standardization of exams seeks to ensure technical consistency and promote the development of practitioners, regardless of their location.
History and Technical Advancements
According to Professor Dr. Gilberto Gaertner, chairman of the ITKF, both the passport and the examination syllabus are significant milestones in the technical evolution of the organization.
“In addition to being very well designed, the ITKF passport will allow all our members to consolidate their technical credentials in a single document. This will ensure that each practitioner has a detailed record of their development in traditional karate,” Gaertner explained.
He also highlighted the importance of the new syllabus. “It’s an institutional initiative of great significance, as it creates a distinct technical identity, differentiating and personalizing ITKF traditional karate.”
Innovative Tools
These two initiatives reinforce ITKF’s commitment to providing innovative and high-quality tools for its members, while promoting standardization and technical growth in traditional karate on the global stage.
With the launch of the passport and the examination syllabus, ITKF demonstrates its ongoing dedication to excellence, offering practitioners a clear and structured path for development within the martial art.
The future of the organization looks bright, with the certainty that these tools will be key in uniting and further strengthening the global traditional karate community.
